A New Venacular Style
This project introduces a considered collection of six semi-detached family homes along Wycombe Lane, each carefully tailored to respond to both the site’s character and the surrounding residential fabric. Set across three storeys with a modest dormer to the roofline, the homes adopt a contemporary rhythm while gently echoing the scale and grain of the existing street.
The development steps back from the road to establish a quieter, more respectful frontage, aligning with the adjacent houses and softening the overall massing. A vertical articulation of parapets and window placements subtly emphasizes the individual identities of each home, while maintaining a coherent architectural language across the terrace.
Internally, the layout prioritizes family life and natural flow. Each house offers four bedrooms, with sleeping quarters distributed across the first floor and loft, and light-filled living spaces arranged at ground level. Street-facing front doors provide direct access to generous living, dining, and kitchen areas, designed to promote openness and connection with the outdoors.
A bespoke design approach has been taken for each unit, optimizing orientation, privacy, and amenity. The palette and detailing- stepped facades, articulated brick porches, expansive glazing, and street-facing dormers- create a visually engaging frontage while remaining sensitive to the neighbouring context. The result is a modest but confident ensemble that reflects contemporary living, grounded in its setting.
