The ‘More for Less’ microhome tackles the lost transitional space or ‘empty’ space that is experienced in larger homes all over the world. In modern day microhome design, it is common to see every corner, corridor or wall taken by the idea of function, where valuable floor space needs to be habited by if not one , but multiple uses. Each wall is designed with shelving whilst you are commonly expected to sacrifice your own possessions to ‘abide’ by a minimalist lifestyle as storage is the bane of a microhome’s existence.
We’re here to say, “embrace the white space” as we believe that breathing space is just as important transformational space, to cultivate a healthy living environment for not just yourself but your roommate too. Large openings that visually and physically connect yourself to the sky, grass and ground, also gives in to the illusion of having more space. Spaces that are designed for privacy when needed but entertaining with guests give this microhome gives a new sense of purpose, where one is not squeezing by to get a plate from one of the kitchen cupboards.
Built by WIkiHouse, the ‘More for Less’ microhome can be built by the users themselves, thus reducing overall costs through sweat equity. The 5.5 x 4.2 meter home can be transported from one side of the country to another without the need of special permits or planning permission.
