Charity clients often face the challenge of securing long-term impact while making the most of present resources. Little Hulton Big Local (LHBL), one of 150 Big Local trusts, was allocated £1 million to improve the lives of local residents. Over the past five years, LHBL has focused on supporting young adults who are Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET), as well as children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

As their initial five-year plan comes to a close, LHBL is looking ahead, investing in infrastructure that will ensure their vital work continues for years to come.

Peel Park, an underappreciated community asset, presents the perfect opportunity for regeneration. The proposal combines LHBL’s operational needs; offices, meeting rooms, and flexible community spaces with new public amenities, including a café and a BMX pump track.

This mixed-use approach ensures the building is more than just functional: it becomes a hub for social, recreational, and creative activity, supporting LHBL’s ongoing mission while revitalising an underused part of the park.

The Peel Park Community Centre demonstrates how strategic investment in community infrastructure can secure the future of vital local initiatives. It transforms an underused park into a thriving hub, supporting young people, fostering community connections, and creating a lasting positive impact in Little Hulton.

Update June 2021: Planning permission achieved! We're so thrilled to have (finally) made it through the severely Covid delayed planning process and have approval. Despite the delays we're really grateful to Salford Planning Authority for working with us to enable Community Little Hulton to have a permanent presence in Peel Park and continue their important work. Updates will now be coming more regularly as we progress this exciting building towards construction which we hope will be in 2022. Watch this space!
