Three Levels of Change

Having discussed the design in detail during the Design in a Day session we agreed that the essence of the design would have a wrap around rear and side extension. The double storey side extension would accommodate a master bedroom and family bathroom whilst the rear extension would create an open plan for the kitchen, dining and living room.

The scheme looks at creating a defined entrance from the side that leads the user into the kitchen, dining and living room. From the kitchen, a utility is added. Within the open plan, a central feature staircase connects the ground floor with the basement. Increasing visual connections are key to this design option, with large sliding door that connect the kitchen to the external patio and a corner infill window at the staircase that allows a sneak peek into the living area from the lounge corridor.

On the basement floor, a spacious TV room and office can create the perfect the entertainment space, which physically connects to a sunken courtyard that is large enough to fit a 5-6 person hot-tub. Additional outdoor storage is perfect for keeping patio furniture during the winter months.
